Gei Oni (Valley of Fortitude)

From award-winning Israeli director Dan Wolman comes an exquisite, historical epic that interweaves the first wave of Jewish European migration to Palestine, at the end of the 19th century, with the love story of Fania and Yechiel.  Seventeen-year-old Fania, her baby daughter, her elderly uncle and her brother arrive at the port of Jaffa as survivors of a Russian pogrom.  Having no other viable options, Fania agrees to marry Yechiel, a settler who is trying to cultivate the barren lands purchased from local Arabs. As Fania tries to look to the future, a harrowing secret from the past threatens to stop her. GEI ONI is based on the classic novel by Shulamit Lapid.
