Ahead of Time

With her love of adventure, fearlessness and powerful intellect, Ruth Gruber defied tradition throughout her extraordinary career. Born in Brooklyn in 1911 and celebrating her 100th birthday this year, Ruth Gruber became the youngest Ph.D. in the world (at age 20) and then won acclaim as an international foreign correspondent and photojournalist. Ruth was the first journalist to enter the Soviet Arctic in 1935 and later traveled to Alaska as a member of the Roosevelt Administration, escorted Holocaust refugees to America, covered the Nuremberg trials and documented the Haganah ship Exodus 1947. Cheerfully brash and lively, Ruth Gruber emerged as the eyes and conscience of the world. Ahead of Time is the directorial debut of noted cinematographer Bob Richman (AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH).
